Holiday Stroll 2018
I have always loved decorating for Christmas, but this year brought extra excitement. This is the first year in our new house that I got to really decorate for All Things Christmas! This time last year our new house was finishing up and we were moving in. I literally was in the attic on Christmas Eve on the hunt for stockings for Santa to fill. I get my decorating gene from my Mom, and I definitely only got a small piece of it. I love my Mom’s house at Christmas time. It is absolutely beautiful. I try to replicate her talent and channel her skill as I work through the house.
I mainly focused on the living room, kitchen and dining areas in the house. You will see a theme as we begin to stroll through the house and that is I love glitter and sparkle, birds (mainly cardinals), and Santa! Let’s start in the kitchen…
This is a small space on my counter that I was able to use for decoration. I have actually used this white stand year round and am able to change it out with the seasons. My kids love the Christmas countdown so I wanted to put it somewhere they could reach it. This beautiful circle candle garland was my Mom’s find at Affair of the Heart this year and it was perfect for my stand. I also love these little woodblock signs to use when you need just a little something extra to pull it all together.
My most favorite thing in the kitchen is my three tier stand. This stand has been so versatile. I have decorated for Spring with tulips, fall with pumpkins and now and I think my most favorite I have decorated it for Christmas. It is the perfect piece to have to use for decorating.
Moving next to the breakfast room. When I change out my decor for each season my main focus is on our breakfast table. It is right next to the kitchen, which is where we spend most of our time. I have used this rectangular dough bowl as a base for several arrangements on the table.
We have a formal dining area just to the right of our main entrance. In this space I have a round farmhouse table, a full console table and a small cabinet. I was able to use this space to bring a lot of Christmas feels.
Last stop, the living room. In here is where we put our tree and stockings. I found some new pillows at Target this year that I used on my couch and really like what they added to the decor. I also have a few special pieces that I like to put out every year. The Night Before Christmas book and my Old World Santa are a couple of the ones in here.
Finally, for the Grand Finale, where all the magic happens…the tree and stockings. I love the lights of a Christmas tree. Turning them on is the first thing I do in the morning. I always feel like after Christmas the house feels empty without it.
I have always done a traditional Christmas tree with ornaments we have purchased for the kids and received from family. This year I added a few extra large red and white balls and mainly tried to keep with a red an white theme. I want to point out one very special tree accessory, my Santa ladder. My Daddy made these ladders for my sister and I and we will treasure them forever. The kids look for it each year and enjoy finding Santa and Mrs. Claus to put on it. I also always try to coordinate my wrapping paper each year and pick out a special wrapping for the kids so they can quickly identify all of their presents. This year, the kids got Santa paper and I was able to find this beautiful red glitter paper with cardinals!! My favorite!
Thank you so much for going on a Holiday Stroll with me through my Christmas decor! I hope that you all have a blessed and very Merry Christmas!!
